Appendix 8: Landscape and Seascape Character Assessment, Scenic Routes and Protected Views

It is noted from the Landscape Sensitivity Map that the majority of the Comeragh Mountains is classified as 'most sensitive'. An industrial sized wind farm is proposed for the Coumnagappul, Carrigbrack, Knockavannia areas of the Comeraghs. It is imperative that the entire Comeragh Mountain range is included as 'most sensitive'.

The Councils objectives, as can been seen in Chapter 10 state

"To protect our sensitive landscapes and seascapes which contribute to the distinctiveness of Waterford as a place and its people"

The Council must fulfill its objectives and protect this unspoiled area of the Comeragh Mountains.
