To improve river access for the public and to increase marine based tourism.
The hotel is of the view that this is a more appropriate location for this monument because it is close to the birthplace of Thomas Francis Meagher, now the Granville Hotel. Such a monument would be more in keeping with the spirit and vibrancy of the Viking Triangle. Such a canopy would allow this fine plaza-like area on the wide expanse of the Mall to be used for outdoor events.
Social impact; avoid brain drain and further unemployment through the 1 in 4 youth leaving the county. By making the city attractive, it seeks. Work with Dublin policy makers to have Waterford leading in rollout of smart cities, regenerations, renewables rather than lagging all the time and lacking ambition. Put pride back in the city through a dedicated team to make the city the most vibrant in Ireland and the home of start-ups, which given it's access and affordability, it can be. Waterford city can be 300,000 by 2030 with boundary change and growth, then it sees itself as the capital of the region and the region is ALREADY the largest city-catchment outside Dublin. Waterford has to start thinking & doing ambitiously; drive it's own destiny unlocking the 3.5bn cash on deposits, and stop blaming Dublin.
I have attended a webinar every week since lockdown and was so disappointed to be presented to mainly middle-age-men presenting the Plan in August. 2020 is a year of change in midgets worldwide so best to tap into this- hence my reference to Nudge Theory.
The PPN feel strongly that the development of these Plans should include consultation with communities – through the representative bodies mentioned above; engagement with Town and City Centre Management groups tend to be business and commercially driven – it is essential that communities are consulted and a sense of ownership encouraged.
The Committee is of the view that this is a more appropriate location for this monument because it is close to the birthplace of Thomas Francis Meagher, now the Granville Hotel. This official name of this section of the Quay is Meagher’s Quay – named after Thomas Francis Meagher – and therefore has another association with Thomas Francis Meagher. A canopy outside the Waterford Crystal and City and Council Offices would allow this fine plaza-like area on the wide expanse of the Mall to be used for outdoor events.
Area is currently wasteground and needs to be developed.
safety
Tramore Eco Group, conscious of how little time remains for the world to repair the damage done to its ecology, and in particular its rapidly reducing biodiversity, fervently want to work with Waterford City and County Council by making Tramore an example of what can be done when communities and local authorities work together. The restrictions on peoples’ movements imposed by the Government to halt the spread of Covid-19 has brought an increased awareness of people's localities and the wildlife they contain. The new plan should strive to maintain and increase that awareness of the natural environment. Rather than merely following existing rules and regulations, Tramore can lead the way in becoming a sustainable town with a healthy natural environment for its citizens and visitors to enjoy and benefit from, showing that such a goal is possible and becoming a beacon for other towns to follow
To protect and improve the neighborhood
Turn something negative into something positive for the Community.
The imbalance needs to be addressed to avoid a return to the traditional “council estate”, and to specifically to take into account the need to counteract undue segregation in housing between persons of different social backgrounds, as per the goals of Part V of the Housing Supply Provisions in the Planning and Development Act 2000.
To align with and support existing national, regional and local policies and objectives in relation to regional accessibility and connectivity and in particular between Waterford and Limerick via the N24.
Poor residential amenity, poor safety and excessive congestion and pollution caused by traffic and trip generators in the area.
This submission is based on a new experience as we hopefully begin to emerge from Covid-19. Everyone and especially older people must feel valued and safe within their communities. They must be confident that they receive due consideration when planning for the future. Creating an environment where they and younger generations can socialise, exercise and be entertained is a critical step in understanding how physical and mental health are entwined.
In making our submission based on the criteria as set out, the Older People’s Council are of the opinion that our submission will help give us a city that has complete connectivity to all amenities and services via a dedicated public transport infrastructure. The development of this infrastructure will allow for the completion of improved bus corridors, cycle lanes and walking facilities which will help to support the ageing population of the City and County which is expected to reach 25% approx., of the population by the year 2040.
No central facility for training.
To ensure the development of wind energy in Waterford is proportionate, sustainable, and avoids negative impacts.
Current traffic and population density in the area has led to a situation where cycling to Waterford City is a difficult and unattractive proposition.
This will provide local employment and increase the sustainability of Waterfords overall tourism offering
There is a shortage of open parkland which is accessible without the use of car/public transport.
Doing so provides economic, social and environmental benefit to Waterford as a whole and is cohesive with a desire to work towards UN sustainable development goals.
