Re: Section 38 Road Traffic Act 1994 - Traffic Calming Scheme
Traffic Calming along the L-1512, Barrack Street, Waterford City.

Waterford City and County Council proposes to undertake the construction of a traffic calming scheme in the form of a Pedestrian crossing with a raised table area to facilitate a safe crossing point along the L1512 outside Mount Sion Primary School. The scheme includes the narrowing of the Road to allow for easier pedestrian crossing and the widening of existing footpath outside the school gate.

The implementation of the traffic calming scheme will create a safe environment for all road users with a strong emphasis on non-motorized road users including pedestrian access to the primary school and the church.

The drawing is available for inspection on the right hand side, and also in our Customer Services Departments in Baileys New Street, Waterford City and Davitt’s Quay, Dungarvan from Wednesday 25th March to Tuesday 21st April, 2026.

The Council will consider any submissions or observations made in writing regarding the proposal. Submissions should be made as follows:-

  • By using the online submission form here on the right hand side,
  • In writing, to: Aideen Jacob, Administrative Officer, Roads Department, Waterford
  • or by email, to ajacob@waterfordcouncil.ie

Deadline for submissions is 5pm on Tuesday 21st April, 2026.
