Waterford City & County Council hereby make the following bye-laws (“Waterford City & County Council Bridge Bye-Laws 2024”) to regulate the passage of vessels navigating on the River Suir and passing through the Edmund Ignatius Rice Bridge (hereafter referred to as “Rice Bridge”) and/or passing through the Sustainable Transport Bridge (hereafter referred to as “Sustainable Transport Bridge”) located approximately 550m downstream of Rice Bridge and the said bye-laws in so far as they relate to Rice Bridge are made in exercise of the powers vested in the Council by Section 10 of the Waterford Corporation and Bridge Act 1906 and the said bye-laws in so far as they relate to the Sustainable Transport Bridge are made in exercise of the powers vested in the Council by Part 19 of the Local Government Act 2001.
These bye-laws are subject to Ministerial consent.
The Draft Bye-Laws are available for inspection here opposite, and during normal office hours from Tuesday 23rd July 2024 to Tuesday 20th August, 2024, at the Council’s Customer Services Departments in Civic Offices, Dungarvan and Bailey’s New Street, Waterford. A copy of the draft bye-laws can be provided free of charge on request.
The Council will consider any submissions or observations made in writing regarding the Draft Bridge Bye-Laws 2024.
Submissions must be made before 4.00 pm on Tuesday 3rd September 2024, by any of the following means: -
